Greg Turner shoots 66
NZPA Hobart Greg Turner, of New Zealand, and two Swedes headed the list of professionals in yesterday's Pro-Am warm-up for the $50,000 Foster’s Tasmanian Open starting at Royal Hobart today. Turner, Magnus Persson and Matts Lanner shot six under par 66s to finish in front of many fancied players. Tasmania’s Stewart Ginn was next best with 68, ahead of a talented group of six on 69, eight birdies in hot and windy conditions in a round starting at the tenth. He picked up strokes on
the 11th. 15th and 17th and on the inward nine at the third, fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth. “I’ve had a break of three weeks in which I’ve been fishing and when I got back to golf I found my timing and set-up had gone off,” Turner said. “So I spoke to one of the club professionals here, Gavin Healey, and he helped straighten me out.” The Dunedin-based professional, who won the New Zealand P.G.A. in his third tournament, marred an otherwise outstanding round with bogeys at the tenth and 14th.
