Daikon Shield information
PA Wellington The Government is anxious that any women seeking damages for the use of the Daikon Shield should have access to information on how to lodge a claim. The information could be obtained through all general practitioners, family planning clinics, medical centres and hospitals, said the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Mrs Hercus, the Minister of Health, Dr Bassett, and the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Mrs Shields, in a
joint statement. With three months until the April 30 cut-off date, the number of claims lodged internationally had risen dramatically from 6000 to 26,000, they said. Mrs Hercus’s office has in the last week sent out hundreds of information kits on how to lodge a claim. “We are anxious that all women in New Zealand who may be entitled to lodge a claim for damages have access to this information,” the Ministers said.
