Mrs Wood invited to elections

PA Wellington The National Party president, Mrs Sue Wood, has been invited to the Philippines as an observer of next month’s Presidential elections.

As a representative of the International Democratic Union, Mrs Wood will be one of 40 representatives from political parties and institutes present at the February 7 elections as observer teams.

Mrs Wood said after theparty executive meeting that she would be making a report for the International Democratic Union and the National Party on her return from the Philippines.

“We must be both concerned and committed to free and fair democratic elections and the future step towards stability and economic progress and human rights for that country,” she told a press conference.
