Airport office building to be considered
A shortage of office space at Christchurch Airport has prompted an investigation of a proposed office building on airport land. A survey of groups will bee done to discover how many would be interested in space in the building, proposed for the block bounded by Memorial Avenue, Orchard Road, Wairakei Road and Russley Road. The airport director, Mr
i Hugh McCarroll, said there had been a lot of - interest in office space at 1 the airport and many prot spective tenants had been turned away because of a 1 lack of space. j The block was that set I aside in the airport’s mas- , ter plan for office space c for groups that did not I need access to the tar- , mac. Groups that might be interested were Civil • Aviation, the Ministry of
Agriculture and the Meteorological Office. Shops on the ground floor for airport travellers and the public were a possibility.
If there is sufficient interest preliminary drawings and cost estimates will be prepared and the commercial viability of the project investigated.
