First innings victory
The touring Australian cricket team, the Emus, had a first innings win over the Canterbury Kiwis at Hagley Oval yesterday. An unbeaten century by the wicket-keeper-bats-man, David Bond, ensured the Kiwis of holding on for a draw. Bond made 104, Including 17 bound-
arles off 205 balls. The Kiwis batted through the day for 303 for eight wickets. Results.—
Kiwis 176 and 303/8 (D. W. Bond 104 not out, D. R. Halligan 61, S. J. Hawker 36 not out, D. R. Cusack 31; P. Browning 3/48, S. Barclay 2/ 101, D. Taylor 1/16).
