No fresh rebel recruits sought

NZPA-AAP Durban The South African cricket authorities are not seeking fresh recruits for the second rebel Australian tour of the troubled republic.

There has been widespread speculation in South Africa that the

South African Cricket Union might want to bolster Kim Hughes’s injuryhit squad with fresh blood for the second tour, for which the present rebels are contracted. “There’s nothing to prevent us looking around,” said S.A.C.U.’s president, Geoff Dakin, yesterday,

“but with 20 or so players contracted to the Australian Cricket Board and another 16 out here, what would we be looking at.

“No, I think we have the A-team and, barring injuries, they’ve shown they can give our best a run for their money.”
