Antiques stolen, found
NZPA-Reuter New York The police have arrested three men, including a Fifth Avenue art dealer, after an estimated SUSIB million ($36 million) of Middle Eastern antiquities were stolen and recovered within 30 minutes, officials said. A total of 105 art works, including vases, plates, urns, coins and jewellery as old as the seventh century 8.C., were taken in an early morning burglary at a
warehouse, and recovered less than 30 minutes later by police awaiting the break-in. The antiquities included an ornate golden bowl valued at more than SUS 3 million. The three men arrested belonged to an international theft ring that specialised in stealing and trading in works of art and antiques, New York City Deputy Inspector Ronald Fenrich told a news conference.
