The Canterbury Kiwis scored 176 in its first innings against the touring North New South Wales Emus team ■

at Hagley Park yesterday.

The Emus won the toss and sent the Canterbury team in to bat. Top scorer for the home side was B. R. Hartland who finished with 44. He had solid support from I. A. Boyle 31, D. Halligan 28 and G. J. Dickson 25.

The best bowler for the tourists was S. Barclay with five for 31. D. Taylor took three for 32 and G. Howells two for 40.

The Emus had scored three runs, all from no balls, in two overs before stumps last evening.

The match ends on Wednesday.
