‘Giants’ meet
NZPA-AAP Adelaide Two giants of the cricketing world, Sir Donald Bradman and Sunil Gavaskar, met briefly yesterday on the green turf of the Adelaide Oval.
The meeting took place before the Australia-India clash in the World Series Cup and was to honour Gavaskar who hit the one hundredth century made in test cricket on the Adelaide Oval when he played against Australia in the first test in December.
Sir Donald, who pre-
sented Gavaskar with a silver salver in commemoration of the deed, said: “It is unique and fitting that Sunny Gavaskar should be the recipient of this presentation. “He is noted for his skill and technique but equally as. much for his sportsmanship. “I regret I did not play against Sunny — I had retired before he was born.
"Now he is approaching the twilight of a great career but I hope he will come again to Australia to play.”
