Wolfenden wins for president
The Amberley Trotting - Club’s president, Mr Dave Morris, was instrumental in bringing New Zealand’s •_ most successful reinsman,. Peter Wolfenden, down to drive at the annual meet-, ing on Saturday and his efforts were rewarded when the master reined three winners, including Morris’s own horse, Laylum.
Wolfenden, who also scored with Golden Don and an impressive three-year-old winner in Viewfield Prince on Saturday, extended his season’s record to 34 wins. The 14- ; times winner of the driver < premiership is lying third this season behind his fellow northerners, Tony Herlihy (44) and Maurice, McKendry (41).
The Drury-based horseman has been showing the results of a larger training team this season by taking a handy lead in the trainers premiership with 24 wins, clear of Roy and Barry Purdon (20) and Derek Jones of Templeton (18). '
