TIMARU CITY COUNCIL GENERAL MANAGER AND TOWN CLERK THE TIMARU CITY COUNCIL is seeking the services of an experienced and competent general manager. This is a key appointment on the staff of a large local authority. The council’s operations cover many fields of activity including the Municipal Electricity Department, Bus Transport Department, Abattoir and Airport and trading undertakings. The Council also undertakes the more traditional local authority functions of providing and maintaining water, drainage, roading, reserves, cultural and other community facilities. The General Manager will be accountable to the Council for the management of its total operations and for achieving in the most effective and efficient manner the goals and objectives established by the council to meet the needs of the residents of the City of Timaru. Applicants must have wide practical knowledge and experience in management and have proven organising, administrative and public relations abilities. A qualification suitable to the position would be desirable. The rewards will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the position as determined by the Higher Salaries Commission.
