D.B. will move into city
Dominion Breweries’ Canterbury branch will build a new $4 million warehouse and office complex on Brougham Street this year. The warehouse will cover about 3000 sq. m and will sell liquor to all D.B. outlets in Christchurch, said D.B. Canterbury’s property manager, Mr Peter Thompson. “Demolition of the existing building on the new site, which is next to the Big Apple (ice-skating rink), will start in midFebruary,” he said. “The completion date for the new building is expected to be early October.” The existing warehouse and offices at Shands Road in Hornby will be sold.
“When we first developed at Shands Road, our trade was mainly with country hotels,” Mr Thompson said. “We are shifting because now our large market is in central Christchurch and we need to be closer to it.”
