Man charged after killing

A young Western Samoan man has been charged with the manslaughter of an older countryman who was found dead in the driveway of a house in Hay Street, Linwood, early yesterday morning.

The man charged is 23. The dead man was 48. His name has not yet been released, pending notification of his next-of-ldn in Samoa. Police and St John ambulance officers, called to the Hay Street house just after 1 a.m., found the man dead with severe facial injuries. The arrested man was found at an address in Hereford Street at 6.10 a.m. yesterday. He was charged after a post-mortem examination of the body, and appeared in the District Court yesterday.
