Big win

PA Rotorua Taranaki scored six tries to beat an unmotivated Bay of Plenty, 35-15, in a nonchampionship rugby match at Rotorua yesterday. Its free running backline, led by the full-back, Kieran Crowley, and the half-back, Dave Loveridge, found little resistance from the Bay. It was the first game between the provinces since late last season when a convincing win to the Bay of Plenty kept it in the national first division competition, and forced Taranaki, winner of the second division to remain there for another year. Scorers — Taranaki: Crowley (2), Murray Watts (2), Lindsay Thompson, Charlie McAllister tries; Crowley 4 conversions and a penalty. Bay of Plenty: Paul Carlton, Dean McKillip tries; Ali Sutherland 2 conversions and a penalty.
