Shirley’s fine chess win

Shirley Boys’ High School, led by last year’s Canterbury schoolpupils’ champion, Brett Cameron, showed its over-all depth with a 5-1 victory against the capable Burnside team in the second round of “The Press” chess competition.

Christ’s College A and St Andrew’s A opened their winning accounts in the A grade, and Christchurch Boys’ B and Riccarton kept unbeaten records in zone one and zone two, respectively, in the B grade.
