Battieship arrives
A reconditioned United States Navy battleship has arrived at Manila as the latest addition to the 7th Fleet in the Pacific. A spokesman said that the New Jersey was “intended to increase fleet offensive capability and extend the United States presence in the Pacific.” The New Jersey, which was first commissioned in 1943, took part in the United States invasion to recover the Philippines from Japanese forces during World War ll.—Manila.
