Dixon and Audain win 10km race

NZPA staff correspondent Washington Rod Dixon and Ann Audain left a field of thousands behind them as they won a Diet Pepsi 10km race in blistering heat in New York yesterday. The Diet Pepsi 10km races are held around the ' American states throughout the summer, and this is the fourth Dixon has won so far this year. The race began at 9 a.m. in New Jersey, with the 4200 runners streaming over

the George Washington Bridge into New York. The temperature, even then, was 35deg. Dixon and Audain both won by comfortable margins. Dixon’s time was 28:19. He was followed by Paul Cummings of Utah (28:41) and Marc Culp of Missouri (28:45). Audain won the women’s section in 32:29, followed by Judi Saint Hillaire of Massachusetts (33:20) and Nancy Konz, also of Massachusetts (34:02).
