Meat works to expand
PA Dannevirke The expansion of the Hawke’s Bay Meat Company’s freezing works will create 80 new jobs at the Takapau plant, says the works manager, Mr Stuart Thompson. Work on the foundations for a second cool store has begun. The present store was inadequate for the production rate of the plant and the company has had to send more than 1000 tonnes of meat to other plants in New Zealand for storage. A third chain, to be working by December this year, will also be installed.
