PA Whangarei Boat hire “pirates” using unsurveyed vessels are a serious safety risk, the president of the Commercial Launch Operators’ Association, Mr B. Hutchins, has said. Many boats used by unlicensed firms were unseaworthy and did not carry adequate life-saving equipment.
