N.Z. v. S.A. at Wimbledon

Sir,—Chris Lewis is pitted against a South African in the semi-finals at Wimbledon and up pops the head of HART in the form of Dick Cuthbert to request the organisers of the tournament to expel Kevin Curran. In the event of failure to comply with this request, HART only wants Chris Lewis to default. My concern is that it (HART) only now makes these hideous statements and requests when a New Zealander meets head on with a South African. To my way of thinking if HART has any credibility and genuine concern to offer, it should have raised these issues weeks before the tournament began when it would have known that New Zealanders were competing alongside South Africans in the tournament and not to wait until a one-to-one situation arose. What would its actions have been had Chris Lewis met Kevin Curran in the first round on court 24, or would it have even known about it?—Yours, etc., M. R. BRUCE. June 30, 1983. ,
