The economy
Sir,—A huge amount of taxpayers’ money is used annually to support our farmers. It is hoped that this will assist them in increasing their production which, if markets can be found, should boost
our export income. With a bit of luck these earnings will be just enough to pay the interest on overseas borrowings which were needed to finance the “Think Big” projects. And the earnings coming from these projects will then for many years have to be used to repay the overseas loan capital. Could this be the economic miracle they promised us?—Yours, etc., G. H. KONIG. June 27, 1983.
