Final concrete pour
Builders and ski-field staff have celebrated the final bulk concrete pour at the big new base facilities building at Coronet Peak, Queenstown. A total of 600 cu m of concrete was carted 1000 m up the mountain for one of New Zealand’s largest high altitude “pours.” The concrete was brought in 200 ready-mix truck loads from Queenstown over some months. Contractors working on the second stage of the $1.5 million ski-field development are now concentrating on the interior
of the complex which will house all the main base area facilities under one roof. Snow at Coronet Peak has brought some delays, but it was still expected that the main construction work on this stage of the project would be finished by the end of the month. the third and final stage, a top floor consisting of a licensed bistro, VIP lounge, common room, public balcony and offices, will be started after the ski-ing season and is due for completion in December.
