Man lost overboard

PA Gisborne The police last evening named an Australian, Neville Frank Sellwood, as the man missing, presumed drowned, from the coastal cement carrier Westport. Mr Sellwood, aged 41, was found to be missing early Sunday morning when the Westport was sailing to Gisborne. The Westport berthed at Gisborne in mid-morning. Senior-Sergeant R. M. Moore said that Mr Sellwood, a crew member, was reported missing at 4.30 a.m. when the nightshifts changed. Conditions were too bad for the Westport to return to the area off the Wairarapa coast where Mr Sellwood was thought to have fallen overboard, Senior-Sergeant Moore said.
