France’s Socialist Government says that unemployment rose 1.3 per cent last month and employers’ leaders warned that the economy had moved sharply into recession. The Labour Ministry said that the number of workers without jobs had increased in May to 2,029,000, equivalent to 8.5 per cent of the work-force.
