Riccarton Players
Sir,—For many years I have supported the efforts of a small but dedicated group of theatrical players, the Riccarton Players. This group has constantly entertained children in every term holiday, not to mention their more serious theatre at minimal cost to parents. Now at a time when they wish to acquire permanent accommodation ana thus have had to incur large expenses, they have requested a grant from the local authority, the Riccarton Borough Council. This council in its wisdom has granted $l5O to assist in the purchase of eight lighting units, costing §309 eacht. Such a meagre grant shows
scant regard for a splendid community effort and the Riccarton Borough Council should seriously consider its position.—Yours, etc., E. T. WEST. June 23, 1983.
