Clyde dam threat
PA Dunedin The Otago Drivers’ Union, one of the unions negotiating an agreement with the Clyde dam contractor, Zub-Jin-Williamson, has threatened industrial action if negotiations do not resume by the end of this month. After three rounds of largely fruitless negotia-
tions, the parties adjourned on May 30 to assess their positions. It was agreed they would set a suitable date for the resumption of talks by the end of this month. However, there has been no contact between the unions and the company since, and the advocate for
the company, Mr S. Marshall, of Wellington, confirmed yesterday that the drivers had said that a round of stop-work meetings would be held soon in Otago, and members would be asked to re-endorse bans that were imposed on the company during an earlier breakdown in the negotiations.
