Industrial problems

Sir,—As a family man, I was somewhat disturbed to read in “The Press” (June 20) that members of a particular union were being told to strike without a meeting or a vote. The simple fact is that most union members like myself cannot afford to go on strike. If we were all given a chance to vote, there would be no unions striking at all. What we have to do is get on with the job, get the work done, and give the country a fair go. Continued heavy

tactics to force rank-and-file unionists to strike will not be tolerated!—Yours, etc., L. THOMAS. June 21, 1983.
