Sir,—l note that seven All Blacks and 14 Lions will go to South Africa to play rugby. Our Commonwealth Games Association is perturbed. However, why aren’t we more cheerful? Wimbledon will soon be on television. We will be able to watch Kiwis, Brits, Yanks, French, Czechs, competing as individuals against South Africans and Nigerians. Sounds similar to the French Open doesn’t it? Shall we now look to the multi-nationals of the world to lead boycotts seeing African athletes will not? I am sure Coca-Cola, Ford, G.M. and Nissan, et al, will give up their investments (surely not more than $US18,OOOM) to fight politics as they have done all over the world and see justice for all.—Yours, etc., MICHAEL J. KEENAHAN. June 21, 1983.
