Erosion feared

Sir,—l see Clifton residents are concerned that the driveway above Clifton Terrace may prove an erosion hazard. I would certainly join them in their fear. However, I would like to ask the engineers concerned just what trees or shrubs they intend to plant in the clay. Also, what will prevent erosion until these plantings are mature enough to hold the hill? — Yours, etc., G. E. G. BURGESS. February 18, 1982.

[A spokesman for the City Engineer’s department comments: “The owner of the property employed a consulting engineer to advise on the excavation work and has, I understand, engaged a landscape architect. Details of the type of planting and the bank protection system are the owner’s responsibility.”]
