Names sought for youth body
PA Wellington The Under-Secretary . of Internal Affairs (Mr Thompson) has called for nominations to the Consultative Committee on Youth Affairs. He said he wanted the committee working within two months. The committee had been set up to give young people a voice in decisions affecting them, and to co-ordinate the Government’s youth policies. It will include two repre-
sentatives from voluntary youth groups and representatives of Government departments involved in youth programmes, such as Internal Affairs, Education, Maori Affairs, Social Welfare, Labour, Justice, and the Police. The committee would first study a National Youth Council report on youth-ser-vices, and proposals put forward by the national council of Y.M?C.A.s. Mr Thompson will chair the committee.
