P.P.C.S. announces lamb, beef payouts
The chairman of P.P.C.S., Mr R. A. Bumside, has announced the payout above full schedule for Beta grade lambs and' for the JulyDecember 1981 beef pool. The Beta grade lamb carcase payout above full schedule is $1.65 a carcase. The payout on prime beef is $6.24 a 100 kg and on manufacturing beef, $3.66 a 100 kg. The. normal allocation towards unpaid capital of about one-third of the above amount will be credited to shareholders' accounts where applicable. In addition to this allocation of surpluses there will also be an allocation in the supplier’s account of 1 per cent of the schedule value of the various grades concerned. Mr Burnside said he thought that suppliers should
be very pleased with the i surplus available from the ! beef pool and especially: gratified with the surplus; available from the Beta. lamb pool. P.P.C.S. had managed to ; place this lamb speciality product into a number of small but profitable markets. ■ Many markets around the; world existed for this small, ! well proportioned laimb, in many cases, especially in the Mediterranean and the Middle East, accompanied by some religious significance.' Great care, however, must be taken in the future with the weight ranging of the Beta lamb and this would have been the area producing the most concern dur- ; ing the 1981 season, Mr Burn- • side said. Payments will be made to ■ suppliers on March 12. i
