Mediator tries to stop strike
An industrial mediator, Mr Tom Skinner, met leaders of the Hawkes Bay Farmers’ Meat Company for more than seven hours yesterday in an effort to find ways of resolving the national meat workers’ strike.
Mr Skinner plans to hold similar talks today with the union, which has called the stoppage to win higher redundancy pay for meat workers who lost their jobs
