Chiropractors concerned
PA Wellington Chiropractors have told the Minister of Health (Mr Malcolm) of their concern about general practitioners taking short courses in manipulative therapy. After making his first visit to the new minister, the president of the Chiropractors’ Association, Mr Stefan Pallister, said his delegation had recorded concern about the part-time or “very short” courses.
“I think there is a much greater cognisance of the value of manipulative therapy and there’s no doubt a number of general medical practitioners have been getting involved in the area,” Mr Pallister said. “That’s what raises our concern because it’s a form of therapy that requires great skill. It’s not something that a general medical practitioner should be dabbling with.”
