Passengers killed
PA Hastings Two passengers were killed when two cars collided head-on at Pakipaki Road, near Hastings, at 5.33 p.m. on Saturday. They were Charles Bruce Royal, aged 31, of Hastings, a passenger in one vehicle; and Tenoho Pani Waapu, aged 33, of Fernhill, a passenger in the other vehicle. Three ambulances and a Fire Service vehicle were called from Hastings to assist in recovering victims from the accident. Three brothers of Mr Waapu were admitted to hospital where they have been reported in a satisfactory condition.
