Wellington Two new members have been appointed to the cricket sub-committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council’s Board of Control. This committee, which has been in existence for some five or six years, consists of player representatives of the six major associations, with three members of the Board of Control. . It studies problems which affect the players and the administration, and brings down recommendations on such matters as over rates, the Shelf Trophy points system, and the disciplining of players.
A member of the board said yesterday that between 80 and 90 per cent of the
committee's recommendations had been adopted, over the years, by the full board. The new members of the cricket sub-committee are John Reid, of Auckland, and Robert Vance, of Wellington. Reid replaces John Wiltshire who since last season has moved to Central Districts, and Vance takes over the Wellington, seat from Stewart Cater. The sitting members who stay on the sub-committee are Jock Edwards (Central Districts), Cliff Dickeson (Northern Districts), Stephen Boock (Otago) and Vaughan Brown (Canterbury). The board’s representatives are the chairman, Mr R. A. Vance, with Messrs Murray Chapple and Alby Duckmanton.
