From father to son
One Mr Millar has replaced another Mr Millar as secretary-treasurer of the Canterbury Rugby Subunions’ Association. ■After 25 years on the association’s executive, the last four as secretarytreasurer, '■ Mr Malcolm- Millar retired at the annual meeting this week. ' His replacement is his son, Mr Geoffrey Millar, who was elected unopposed. In farewelling Mr Millar, sen., the president, Mr Murray Cooper, and a number of other long-serving members,
spoke of the outstanding service Mr Millar had given to country rugby. Mr Cooper was re-elected president and Mr Stuart Miller vice-president. The statement of accounts showed a loss of ?819 last .season. The association decided to act on a request from its junior advisory board that the possibility be investigated of having Canterbury. country included in the South Island under IE tournament. At present country has a team in only the under 16 tournament.
