Facilities for wheelchairs
Sir,—l noted with interest the G.U.S. advertisement (“The Press,” February 19), particularly the sentence “... to provide better service and facilities to the general public.” Could someone explain to me why there is not a facility such as a lift available in the. Merivale Mall to allow easy access to the first-floor shops for those in wheelchairs and mothers with prams. But then perhaps we don’t qualify as the “general public.”—Yours, etc., PAULA SHELDON.
. February 19, 1982. [The manager of Merivale Mall, Mr A. F. Price, replies: “We appreciate the interest shown by your correspondent, who will be pleased to learn that we have been endeavouring for some time to have a lift installed. Regrettably there are some practical difficulties, but we are doing all that we can to overcome them, and to enhance the services we provide for our customers."]
