Access to hospital
Sir, ■ — I heartily approve of the Hospital Board’s ter-rier-like attack on Victorian legislation which prevents it from building roads and bridges where it pleases. I completely agree with your editorial. The modern patient does not want to hang about on lawns. He demands a scenic drive in agony through the azaleas, a short stay and a quick exit one way or the other down the same pretty road. There will be no misuse of this facility; all vehicles not carrying food, firemen, or invalids will be stopped at a blockhouse complementing the new hospital architecture, and turned back by guards dressed in uniforms which blend with the colourful foliage of the gardens. — Yours, etc., A. P. GEDDES. April 22, 1979. Sir, — May I suggest a solution to this vexed problem which is as environmentally inoffensive as it is symbolically apt —- a ferry. — Yours, etc., B. SHELDON. April 23, 1979.
