Rain-interrupted service
Sir, — I thank your three correspondents for taking the trouble to acknowledge my letter of April 20 but notice with amused tolerance the absence of any comment regarding my factual statement, that neither Easter nor Christmas has
any basic connection with Christianity. This deliberate evasion is typical of Christians in defence of their so vulnerable beliefs. Biblical quotations are trotted out on the premise that their Bible is utterly infallible, which of course it is not. Love? — Christian love? — How about Luke 19:27 for starters followed by the whole book of Revelation for afters? Foolish Gentile that I am, I am not that foolish that I equate blind faith with rational knowledge. What I surely know is, that after many years studying the Bible and the Christian religion, both book and isrn leave much to be desired in terms of over-all humanity and accuracy. — Yours, etc., ARTHUR MAY. April 23, 1979. (This correspondence is now closed. — Editor)
