'Cannabis for winter'
A shearer found with 19 “deals” of cannabis in his possession told a detective that he was getting in his supply for winter, the Magistrate’s Court heard on Tuesday.
After the taking of depositions, John Flynn, aged 24, pleaded not guilty to possessing cannabis for supply on March 16.
Messrs M. W. Burberry and E. W. Tippins, Justices of the Peace, had found there was a case to answer and remanded him to the Supreme Court for trial.
Asked by Detective D. N Stewart whether he was tak ing the cannabis to Welling ton to sell it, the defendan had allegedly replied that i was for his own use and fo his winter supply. When Detective S. M Dunn questioned Flynn abou the $BOO he had had in hi possession, the defendant ha< told him it was from the sal of a car, said the detective Flynn had also told him tha the writing in a book re ferred to race horses am bets he had placed, he added
