Late sport Lisa Havoc in good form
Favouritism for the Tanqueray Laurels, feature race for bitches at the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club’s totalisator meeting at Queen Elizabeth II Park on Thursday, was decided in 32.29 s in the heats at the track last evening. Lisa Havoc, a class chaser, was only half a tenth outside the track record for 540 m in winning her heat of the Laurels last evening. The Sarkhan-Sally Havoc bitch was beaten out of the traps by Noble Surrender, but ranged alongside the runner towards the end of the back straight and came away convincingly. The 1979 New Zealand Cup champion over a distance, Sarkhan Sal, finished resolutely to take second ahead of Noble Surrender. Sarkhan Sal, from the same litter as Lisa Havoc, could not muster the early speed
from the favourable inside box, but she was running on strongly at the finish. The second heat was won decisively by Deadly Dame, which jumped to the lead from the start and led throughout. Cracker Starlet chased strongly, but in yain, and the two had ’ a clear break over Ardna’s Charm, the New Zealand Oaks win. ner from Southland which should improve with the run, and All Okay. After the heats, the draw for the. final on Thursday was made and, with Lisa Havoc drawing the inside box, she will be a hot favourite. Sarkhan Sal has ! drawn box seven and that will be to her advantage. The field for Thursday’s final in box draw is: Lisa Havoc, Blue Discretion, AH i Okay, Deadly Dame, Noble I Surrender, Ardna’s Charm, I Sarkhan Sal, Cracker Starlet
