Annual ‘Turkey Trot’

A large field is expected tomorrow for the annual Anzac Day “Turkey Trot” pace-judging run from the Bridge of Remembrance to the Artillery Memorial in Victoria Park and back.

Runners will assemble at King Edward Barracks at 12.30 p.m. They will surrender all watches for the duration of the run and will nominate their estimated time. Those who run closest

to their estimates will get prizes. All runners are advised to run slowdy on the downward grade from Victoria Park because of the risk of leg injury. . The run is organised annually by the Long Distance Runners Club of New Zealand, whose chairman, Don Cameron, himself a former overseas serviceman, inaugurated the first run.

This year’s run co-ordina-tor is Alex Kaihau, a former serviceman and a member of the L.D.C. club who has successful runs over the 100 km, the New Brighton “50” and a number of marathons. The run is being sponsored by the R.S.A. for the third successive year anti the official starter will be Brigadier J. W. Burrows, who will send the runners away at 1 p.m.
