Watch-house theft
PA Auckland A man who went to the Auckland Central Police Station watch-house to telephone for a taxi walked out with a handbag and contents, valued at $549. belonging to a woman employee. He is Tom Carroll, aged 22. a foreman, of Porirua. who pleaded guilty to a charge of theft when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland.
He was convicted by Mr J R Aubin. S.M . and remanded in custody to Max 4 for sentence. When found. Carroll said he had gone to the watch< house to telephone for a He saw the handbag and tool, it. He kept the money and cigarettes in it. threw away a diamond engagement ring, a wallet, and a mirror and comb set. and left the bag a| a relative's house.
