Exports up in wool
PA Wellington Wool exports increased by 14 per cent in the seven months ended January 31. Wool Board statistics show that exports in the seven months were 911,881 bales compared with 789,865 bales in the seven months ended January 31, 1978. The price paid for the wool was also higher with the average price per kilogram (F. 0.8. being 252.17 c compared with 246.46 c in the seven months ended January, 1978. Exports to Japan were up from 63,657 to 127,944 bales, to the Soviet Union from 76,314 to 127,400 bales, to China from 32,936 to 50,636 bales, and to Poland from '13,083 to 27,474, bales. Exports to Britain fell slightly from 143,088 to 132,097 bales, to Australia from 28,332 to 20,532 bales, and to Spain from 10,521 to 395 bales. The 911,881 bales exported in the seven months was made up of 427,281 bales of greasy wool, 419,117 bales of scourea wool, and 65,483 bales of slipe.
