Sheep to Rumania

Sir, — I view with concern the export last week to Rumania of 32,000 two-tooth Corriedale and Romney ewes. The Government emphasises that our farmers should increase production. Mated, 32,000 ewes could increase this country’s export of lamb to 62,000 carcases. Maybe, however, the Rumanians will not want our rabbits to breed from. While visiting a farm in South Australia recently. I learned the Australians sell “wethers only” to Iran. New Zealand farmers should wake up. — Yours, etc., M. DENTON, Rangiora. April 16, 1979. j
