Access to hospital
Sir, — The present temporary bridge was constructed in 1966 — the eastern abutment on land vested in trust for garden and recreational use only. Now a permanent structure is proposed — to be conveniently legalised by a change in an act and naturally specified for limited access. But how long will it take before it becomes a major permanent public access? Such an access will become very
convenient when the present chaos of redevelopment is sorted out. Surely one cannot justify this purely on the grounds of “patient convenience” and what the Chief Fire Officer thinks. In the long run the only losers will be ourselves and whatever is left of our cultural centre and gardens will be accessible only by air. — Yours, etc., . P. G. O'BRIEN. April 19, 1979. ,
