Hano Direct picked at Forbury Park
Special corres. Dunedin i i Hano Direct, which has i had the chance to freshen 1 since she failed in the Inter- ! Dominion Trotters’ Final is , chosen to win the Dunedin Cup at Forbury Park to- 1 morrow night. A run at the Waimate I trials last week when she 1 finished third to the pacers, Charlie Briar and Lord Logan, should have her at • peak fitness for tomorrow i night’s race. i Hano Direct gained a win and a second to Scotch Tar
in heats of the Inter-Domi-nions Among those she beat in her heat were Pointer Hanover. Waipounamu and Miss Castleton, which are among her rivals tomorrow night. Pointer Hanover went on to finish fourth in the final and he has been placed in his two subsequent starts behind Even Speed and First Prize at Addington. His trainer driver. George Shand, who was serving a suspension during those races, will be back in the sulky tomorrow night. First Prize is high on the list of fancies after her w'in
last week. She is not the most reliable but has much ability. About Now, runner-up to First Prize last Saturday and Miss Castleton, which finished fourth are others likely to feature in the finish. Miss Castleton won twice at Forbury Park about this time last year. Rocky Tryax has had been racing soundly, could be rewarded with a win in the G. J. Barton Memorial Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. double. He finished fifth in the Easter Cup last week and sixth in the Inter-Dominion Final the start before. The four to finish ahead of him in the Easter Cup are absent tomorrow. THIRD IN CUP Rocky Tryax has had some useful placings, including a third in the last New Zealand Cup and two thirds and a fourth in the Inter-Dominion heats since he last won in September. He beat Wee Win, Sapling and Palestine among others in the Hutchinson Free-For-All at Addington. Palestine, which is among his rivals tomorrow night, won from 10m under invitation conditions at Forbury Park in October when Rondel (third), Rocky] Tryax, Miss Pert and Trusty, Scot were among the beaten division. Palestine won an InterDominion consolation but : never raised his backer's | hones in the Easier Cun.
Miss Pert, another Easter Cup failure is worth another chance, on the score of her unlucky third to Rondel and Sapling in the Inter-Domi-nion Final the start before.
Trusty Scot, the Easter Cup sixth after breaking at the start, should measure up to the opposition and the small field could aid his chance from 15m.
