Interest already high in exhibition
The annual heating exhibition presented by the Building Centre is assured of total success if preliminary enquiries provide any indication. Even the ever popular bathroom renovation appears to have given pride of place to heating during recent weeks.
The manager of the centre (Mr R. A. Alexander) says that there has never been so much interest and concern over home heating as at
present. Significant factors, of course, are the projected sharp increase in electricity costs and the uncertainty over the future supply and cost of oil. It is interesting to note that from this situation has arisen the development of the wood burn-
ing space heater, of which at least one specially designed model has been released and others are pending. Unfortunately, one
major unit will not be ready in time for this season. The range of fan convector electric heaters has widened considerably and make ideal units where quick, economical, controlled heating is required. They include underfloor, wall mounted and standing units. In-built heating, either
in the floor or ceiling, is popular in new installations providing, as it does a completely controllable system requiring
no space and being economical to run. Mr Alexander says that there has been a tremendous widening in the range of styling and operating refinements in the solid fuel field and these appear to be playing an increasingly important part in our home heating scene.
You will also see the first release in New Zealand of a totally new solid fuel-operated hot water home heating plant com-
plete with fan convector heaters and, most importantly, designed and built in Christchurch for local conditions.
Do not miss this interesting and informative exhibition this week and next. Specialists in all fields will be on hand to discuss your heating problems and you will see the widest selection of domestic systems and appliances available under one roof anywhere in New Zealand.
