Pol Pot regime 'killed 3M’
NZPA-Reuter Bangkok The Vice-President of the new Kampuchean Administration has claimed that almost three million people were killed during the rule of the ousted Prime Minister, Mr Pol Pot. Radio Phnom Penh has said.
Vice-President Pen Sovan was making a statement to cadres and youths in the Administration’s armed forces to mark the fourth anniversary of the April,
1975, overthrow of the American-backed Government in Phnom Penh. Both sides in the present Kampuchean conflict marked the anniversary of the day in which Mr Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge took power. The Vietnamese-backed Administration contends that the Khmer Rouge betrayed the revolution by their domestic policies and by “allowing themselves to be the slaves of China.”
