Outstanding times

Swimming in the Big 10 conference championships in Columbus, Ohio, he was third in the 100 and 200 yards backstroke. Both events were won by the Australian, Mark Kerry, of Indiana University, which is coached by the famed Doc Counsilman. In the 100 yards backstroke, swum in a 25 yard
pool Bullock’s time was 52.415, and in the 200 yards backstroke he recorded Imin 52.935. Converted to 50m longcourse times using an international conversio ntable, the times are equivalent to 58.7 s for 100 m and 2min 6.3 s for 200 m. If Bullock can repeat the times in long-course competition this (northern) summer he will be a strong prospect for selection in the New Zealand team for the Moscow Olympics next year.
